To the editor: A petulant island activist forms a political action committee (PAC) to support three city council candidates, then explicitly tells PAC contributors to be confidential in their donations and to lie about their occupations.
To the editor: Much is at stake in this year’s election of three city council members.
To the editor: We’ve known and respected Arlene Buetow since 1997.
To the editor: I take Mr. Tripp at his word when he says that his selection of a King County Republican as treasurer of his PAC “had nothing to do with ideology.”
To the editor: The Paulson/Fortner lawsuit asks us to believe their legal and advocacy actions will encourage more open city government.
To the editor: I’ve been reading letters about candidates for council who are “nice.” Dick Haugan is nice, too.
To the editor: One wonders how many islanders paid attention to the article (A27) of the Bainbridge Review this week about Common Sense Bainbridge, a new PAC formed by Gary Tripp and Glenn Avery, Seattle resident and chairman of the Seattle 36th District Republicans.
To the editor: We know from a recent letter (Endorsement process is open and fair, Oct. 1) that candidates Tollefson, Townsend and Roth have sought and received the endorsement of the Democratic Party in their bid for Bainbridge Island City Council.
To the editor: I am dead set against the new development being planned for the corner of High School Road and Highway 305.
To the editor: The Tollefson family has been family friends since they moved to Bainbridge Island more than 30 years ago.
To the editor: It has been exactly 130 years since the Prime Minister of Prussia, the conservative aristocratic Junker Otto von Bismarck (it does not get any more conservative than that, he was called the “Iron Chancellor”), introduced health insurance for all Germans.
To the editor: We are surprised to see that the proposed Visconsi shopping mall on the corner of High School Road and Highway 305 seems to have such a smooth sailing with our Planning Commission.
To the editor: I would like to offer my unqualified support for Arlene Buetow for city council.
