SEATTLE – An unexpected roadblock on the Spartans’ path to success quickly emerged in last Wednesday’s playoff match: Ballard High.
SEATTLE – The Bainbridge High varsity track and field team competed in the Metro League Championships last week at the Southwest Athletic Complex in West Seattle at Chief Sealth High School and there were many strong efforts that resulted in season-best results.
The Bainbridge Spartan girls softball team has punched its ticket to state. Bainbridge snapped a late-developing 3-3 tie with a one-run seventh inning to beat Juanita 4-3 at the Southeast Athletic Complex in Seattle Tuesday.
Bainbridge rebounded from a loss to Ballard in the second round of the Metro League fastpitch tournament to blank Eastside Catholic 6-0 Friday at Southwest Athletic Center in Seattle.
Bainbridge was unable to overcome a three-goal halftime deficit as Issaquah outlasted the Spartans to win the Washington state girl lacrosse championship 11-8 Friday at Eastside Catholic High.

A 27-game winning streak over two seasons and claim to the all-time girls state championship record are on the line Friday night as No. 1 Issaquah, the defending Washington state girls champion, takes on No. 2 Bainbridge, which is making a return to the title game for the first time since 2012, in the Washington Lacrosse Girls State Championship Game at the Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish.
It was another big win for Big Blue. And another demon exorcised for the Spartan girls lacrosse team.

SEATTLE – Bainbridge was unable to unseat the O’Dea baseball dynasty Thursday night at Steve Cox Memorial Park, and the Spartans were defeated 5-2 in the final round of the Metro League playoffs by the defending champions.
The proof, as they say, is in the bus ride. Well, maybe “they” never say that, but the Spartans do.
