SAMMAMISH – A 27-game winning streak over two seasons and claim to the all-time girls state championship record are on the line Friday night as No. 1 Issaquah, the defending Washington state girls champion, takes on No. 2 Bainbridge, which is making a return to the title game for the first time since 2012, in the Washington Lacrosse Girls State Championship Game at the Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish.

Game time for the 37th high school lacrosse state championship to be contested in Washington and 23rd consecutive girls state title game is 7 p.m.

No. 2 seeded Bainbridge, one of two original girls high school lacrosse teams in the state and founding member of the Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association, has won nine all-time girls lacrosse state championships in Washington state in 18 appearances. The Spartans are just one title win away from becoming the all-time state championship leader.

The Tami Tommila-coached squad has made nine consecutive trips to the championship crowned by back-to-back wins in 2011 and 12 before falling short the past two seasons.

No. 1 seeded Issaquah, a combined squad of student-athletes from Issaquah School District high schools coached by Penny Moss, is making its second consecutive trip to the title game and third all-time.

Issaquah is led by 2014 All-American and two-time All-State senior Suzy Emerson and the No. 1 point producer in the state, Issaquah High sophomore Nicole Victory.

Emerson, the No. 3 goal-scorer in the state finished Wednesday’s semifinal with five points, all on goals, bringing her season-total to 60 goals and 14 assists for 74 points.

Victory, who plays at the midfield position, topped her squad’s 15–7 semifinal win on Wednesday with four goals and five assists on the night to bring her season totals to 52 goals and 58 assists for 110 points.

Bainbridge is led by two-time All-State senior Paige Brigham the No. 4 point getter in the state and lights-out goaltending of senior Kelly Coffyn.

Brigham, who will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in the fall as the first female high school student-athlete from Washington state to earn an NCAA roster spot for the Midshipman, dropped in four goals and added five assists to help the Spartans to a 12–10 semifinal win over Eastside Catholic on Wednesday. She now has 41 goals and 41 assists for 82 points on the season.

In 750 minutes of play over 15 games this season, Coffyn, the No. 10 keeper in the state has stopped 67 of 143 shots for a save percentage of 46.9 percent. She has a 12–1 record.

With its semifinal win on Wednesday the Bainbridge, the regular-season Alki Conference champion, has now won 12 consecutive games this season with a 14-1-0 record. Its only loss came in a 16–10 defeat by Issaquah in the third game of the regular season on March 20 at the Skyline Community Fields in Sammamish.

In 15 games this season, Bainbridge has scored 258 goals while giving up just 76 this season. The Spartans have not scored fewer than 10 goals this season and have put up 18 or more goals nine times.

On its post season road to the state title game, Bainbridge downed No. 3 Eastside Catholic 12–10 in the state semifinals, bested No. 10 Lakeside 16–12 in the quarterfinal round after easily handling No. 15 Gig Harbor 20–2 in the opening round of the state tournament.

Issaquah, the regular season Snoqualmie Conference champion, is the only undefeated high school lacrosse team — boys or girls in Washington state this season.  With a 15-0-0 record in 2015, the Spartans, who have scored 241 goals, while giving up just 91, now have a 27-game winning streak on the line. The undefeated string dates back to a 13–7 road loss to the Spartans on March 26 of last season.

On its post-season road to the state championship, Issaquah defeated No. 13 Snohomish 15–7 in the state semifinals, dispatched state runner-up No. 9 Lake Sammamish 12–7 in the quarterfinal round after its 21–1 opening round win over No. 16 Stadium.

2015 will mark the fifth girls lacrosse state title game all-time hosted by the Eastside Catholic School.
