BSO announces upcoming auditions

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding mid-season auditions for immediate placement.

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding mid-season auditions for immediate placement.

Of special interest this season are violins (first and second), viola and horn. Players of all other instruments are encouraged to audition for the substitute musician list.

Auditions are by appointment only at Bainbridge Performing Arts, 200 Madison Ave. North.

Musicians are requested to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their arranged appointment and look for signs to the warm-up and audition rooms. Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting works of their choice that display the depth of their musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. Musicians should come prepared to play a total of 5 to 8 minutes of music. Sight-reading for all instruments will be requested — music will be provided on site.

Those interested in auditioning for principal positions will be asked to prepare excerpts.

Contact BSO general manager Clara Hanson for more information and to arrange an audition time at BSOManager@bainbridgeperformingarts.org or 206-465-0455.

BSO rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at BPA.

Upcoming performance dates are April 18, 19 and May 30, 31. Read more about the BSO Season at www.bainbridgeperformingarts.org/collections/bso-2014-2015.
