BARN to host expanded spring vendor market

The Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network is hosting its first Spring Bazaar May 11 at 10 a.m.

Over 40 vendors, all members of BARN, will offer their wares at booths around the building, including glass sculpture, jewelry, art prints, wood bowls, handmade clothing and instruments, metalwork, silkscreened items, and more. BARN is an artist collective and makerspace.

It’s also an open studio event — artists will be stationed in each of the studios to give demonstrations and answer questions about their mediums.

Typically, BARN hosts a similar event around the holidays in December and a studio tour-slash-outreach event called Spring Sampler in May. This takes the place of the latter event.

High demand for the winter market — last year, over 500 people visited — spurred the nonprofit to consider an expansion into spring of members selling their products.

“It’s a great opportunity for people to meet artists and vendors — there’s so many guests, often vendors sell out,” BARN communications director Jenn Hemmingsen said. “The building is just buzzing.”

There’s no entry fee. A list of vendors can be found on the BARN website.
