Sunday, March 8

9:52 p.m. A 24-year-old Bainbridge man in a 2007 Honda was traveling south on Eagle Harbor Drive NE and drifted off the road.

He went through a wooden fence and his car then hit a support cable for a power pole, then a power pole.

The car was wedged between the support cables and utility poles.

The driver was he was groggy from sleeping on the ferry and was having trouble staying awake.

He also said his eye hurt and was taken to Harrison Hospital for a medical evaluation.

A crew from Puget Sound Energy cut the support cables so the vehicle could be towed.

Saturday, March 7

8:38 a.m. Police stopped a 25-year-old man in a 2002 Ford Focus after he did not signal a turn onto Eagle Harbor Drive near Bucklin Hill Road.

The driver had an Alaska ID card, but said his license was not valid because it had been suspended after he did not pay off his tickets.

He was cited for third-degree driving with a suspended license.

A passenger who was a licensed driver drove the vehicle away.

12:16 p.m. A 56-year-old Bainbridge Island man said someone used his Social Security number to file for a tax refund.

He was doing his taxes when he was notified of the problem.

He also said the IRS was stopping the refund payment and would investigate the case.
