“Christmas, Again,” a film produced by 2001 Bainbridge High School graduate Clare Paterson and written and directed by her husband Charles Poekel, will be playing at Dragonfly Cinemas in Port Orchard through Thursday, Dec. 17.

The film debuted domestically at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and has gone on to play at New Directors/New Films, put on by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art, in addition to a host of other festivals across the country and internationally.

The story is about a heartbroken Christmas tree salesman who returns to New York City hoping to put the past year behind him. He spends the season living in a trailer and working the night shift, until a mysterious woman and some colorful customers rescue him from self destruction.

As background research to write the script, Poekel opened his own Christmas tree stand in Brooklyn six years ago, while working by day at a documentary film company.

The movie went on to receive critical acclaim as well as a Sundance Artist Services grant, which is allowing the film’s distributor, Factory 25, to give the film a wider release now.
