Dain Weisner, a 2014 Bainbridge High School graduate and former lacrosse standout, debuted his second album, “All Over the Place,” shortly after his friend and former teammate Tom Jorza suffered serious injuries in a tragic accident.

Weisner will perform his sonic tribute to his friend as part of a benefit concert event at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20 at the Filipino-American Hall (7566 High School Road).

Tickets are on sale now. The cost is $20 for adults and $15 for students. To purchase, send a check made payable to “Tom Jorza” and mail it to Michele & Mike Weisner at 13014 Venice Loop NE, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110. Annotate the names of all those attending on the check, so that volunteers can check you in at the door.

On Sept. 19, Jorza fell from a third-story fire escape while at a fraternity party at Washington State University in Pullman and suffered severe injuries which caused him to lapse into a coma. According to Jorza’s parents, he is currently at level three of eight on the Rancho Los Amigos Scale Level of Comas; level one being the least severe. This state is reportedly marked by localized responses, such as inconsistently responding to simple questions by the squeezing of a hand.

Jorza’s parents have acknowledged that alcohol was involved in the accident, and intend to drive home the message of safety and responsibility at the benefit. The event will feature a social meet and greet, no-host bar, light appetizers, a silent auction and a special presentation and video by John and Loral Ann Jorza prior to Weisner’s musical tribute.

All proceeds from this event will aid in ongoing medical expenses.

“Tom is one of the most genuinely nice people I have ever known,” Weisner said. “Anyone who meets him will instantly know what I mean. I am excited for this music benefit and thankful I can do something to help Tom in his recovery.”
