Spartans even in wrestling debut

The Bainbridge High varsity wrestling team broke even in their first match of the season, claiming a 30-24 win over Bishop Blanchet and then a 60-11 loss against Ballard at a doubleheader event Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Bishop Blanchet High School.

SEATTLE – The Bainbridge High varsity wrestling team broke even in their first match of the season, claiming a 30-24 win over Bishop Blanchet and then a 60-11 loss against Ballard at a doubleheader event Wednesday, Dec. 2 at Bishop Blanchet High School.

Against Blanchet, the Spartans claimed forfeit wins in the 106-, 132-, 160- and 170-pound matches.

Double forfeits negated the 113-, 120-, 145-, 152-, 220- and 285-pound brackets.

Bainbridge’s Abe Muldrow was pinned by Blanchet’s Cole Lunde in 1:30 in the 138-pound match.

Against Ballard, Bainbridge claimed no wins by forfeit.

In the 106-pound match, Ballard’s Isaiah Larkin scored a unanimous 6-0 decision win over BHS’ Rachel Longridge.

Ballard claimed wins by forfeit in the 113- and 120-pound, and there was a double forfeit in the 126-pound spot.

Cade Topham scored a 16-0 win over Ballard’s Xiwong Clements, the Spartans first-earned win of the night, in the 132-pound division.

Abe Muldrow found himself pinned by Ballard’s Dalin Woolford in 3:50 in the 138-pound match.

Ballard claimed forfeit wins in the 145- and 152-pound divisions.

Spartan team captain Aaron Jumpa pinned Jaylen Schmid in just 30 seconds, winning for the island squad the 160-pound match.

Then, Alex Loleas lost a 5-1 decision against Ballard’s Alec Sigmar in the 170-pound bracket before the Beavers ended the night with four additional forfeit wins in the heavier bracket matches.
