HNA outlasts BHS in inaugural meet

Holy Names Academy outpaced Ballard, Bainbridge and Chief Sealth in the Spartans’ first meet of the gymnastics season late last week.

BALLARD – Holy Names Academy outpaced Ballard, Bainbridge and Chief Sealth in the Spartans’ first meet of the gymnastics season late last week.

HNA won the meet with a score of 163.15. The Beavers were second with 152.85, while BHS finished third with 140.05. Chief Sealth finished fourth.

The Spartans did best on floor and vault.

Karen Klinkenberg tied for fourth in vault for BHS with a score of 8.1.

On floor, Emma Chee was sixth with a score of 8.4.

Klinkenberg took 10th in the event (7.8), while teammates Kyle Daniel tied for the 11th spot (7.6) and Alathea Pippinger and Briana Bruyere tied at 13th (7.5).

Chee also took fifth in another tie on the bars; she finished with a score of 7.0.

Fellow Spartan Remi Rosencrans was 13th (6.3), followed by Kylie Daniel (16th, 5.8) and Pippinger and Bruyere (17th, tie, 4.5).

On beam, Rosecrans tied for sixth (7.8), and Chee was 10th (7.4).

Bruyere finished at 16th (6.65), with Klinkenberg and Daniel just behind (17th, tie, 6.6).
