Spartans snag last-minute miracle win over Seahawks

Things looked bleak for the Bainbridge Spartans for much of the first half of Wednesday's home game against the visiting Chief Sealth Seahawks, but the second half was a whole different ballgame.

Things looked bleak for the Bainbridge Spartans for much of the first half of Wednesday’s home game against the visiting Chief Sealth Seahawks, but the second half was a whole different ballgame.

The girls varsity basketball team fought and clawed their way back into the game and earned a last-minute 52-50 win thanks, in no small part, to perpetual points leader Taylor Tye’s record-breaking performance.

Tye went eight-for-10 from behind the arc, breaking the previous record of seven successful three-pointers in one game, despite running a fever and feeling “nasty.”

The win at home was a much needed boost for the team following a particularly dispiriting loss on the road Friday.
