Allison Murphy placed first in the 100-yard backstroke in action against Roosevelt late last week in girls swimming, and her super speedy time of 1:01.72 was good enough to qualify Murphy for state.

The state qualifying mark for the 3A meet is 1:01.99.

Ana Bucy took second in the event for Bainbridge, with a time of 1:04.89.

BHS won the meet with a score of 104. Roosevelt finished with 76 points.

Bainbridge won nine of 12 events, and the Spartans took first and second place in the 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard freestyle, 1-meter diving, 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Another highlight of the meet was the state qualifying time in the 200-meter freestyle relay for the Spartans.

The team of Ani Duni, Sam Caro, Mikelle Ackerley and Amanda Comeau won the race in 1:45.52.

The state qualifying time in the event is 1:45.99.
