Spartans fall short against Enumclaw

ENUMCLAW – The varsity boys water polo team came up short during their recent away match against Enumclaw High School.

The final score was 15-11.

The loss came the day after a remarkable come-from-behind win at home over Stadium High.

“The accomplishments I’m most proud of are that eight different athletes scored in our 14-9 win over Stadium and seven different athletes scored in our 11-15 loss to Enumclaw,” said Spartan Head Coach Jacob Millican. “And between the two games we managed 13 assists — a testament to our improved passing and field awareness.”

The Enumclaw loss also came during the temporary absence of three key players, a coincidence which Millican said actually gives the Spartans a bit of an edge down the line.

“[It] was a nice preview as we will likely face them at Regionals,” he said, adding that now the Spartans saw their opponents play well, but Enumclaw’s impressions of the BHS squad would not be accurate against a full bench.

“[The] Stadium win put us at 3-4 in league play and essentially guarantees a berth into Regionals,” Millican said.
