Spartans fall 12-8 in boys water polo

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge High boys varsity water polo team suffered a 12-8 loss during their first home meet against Wilson High Monday.

Still, there was plenty of offense to be happy about.

“[Our] scoring came from five different players, showing our breadth of talent,” said Spartan Head Coach Jacob Millican.

“Captain Cade Taylor had an epic game with

13 saves in three quarters in the goal. [It was a] tough, physical game and also first home and league game,” Millican said.

“Good takeaways were that our young team got good exposure to the rougher side of water polo and know what to expect, as well as the fact that it served as something of a wake-up call,” the coach added. “We came out slow and lax in first half, which was partly a result of expectations of another undefeated season in league play.”

Never ones to be kept down long, the slippery Spartans hit the pool again right away in preparation for their next match.

“The boys bounced right back though and practiced with uncommon intensity the next night,” Millican said.
