Spartans deliver baseball beatdown to Franklin

BAINBRIDGE - The Spartans claimed the top-ranked spot in the Metro Mountain division after defeating the visitors from Franklin High Friday, April 3 in a 12-0 shutout.

BAINBRIDGE – The Spartans claimed the top-ranked spot in the Metro Mountain division after defeating the visitors from Franklin High Friday, April 3 in a 12-0 shutout.

The Bainbridge High varsity baseball team advanced their season record to 4-2 (3-1 in league play).

The second-place team, Garfield, also boasts a league record of 3-1 (5-4 overall).

Friday’s slaughter was called early, after the fifth inning, per league rules. A 10-0 lead in the fifth requires an early end to the game.

BHS led 3-0 in the first, though Garfield kept them from gaining any more ground in the second. In the third the Spartans jumped ahead with seven more runs and then managed two more in the fifth to cinch the early ending.

Runs were scored by Blake Swanson (two), Truman Miller (one), Duncan McCombs (two), Carter Kraus (one), Trent Schulte (one), Max Thomas (one), Jack O’Neill (one), Brice Kozlosky (two) and Gareth Grindeland (one).
