BAINBRIDGE – A scrappy first set put the Spartans within reach of a much-desired win over the Crusaders, but Eastside Catholic rebounded from a 25-23 first set loss to Bainbridge to escape with a 3-1 victory in girls varsity volleyball last week.

BHS came from behind multiple times to claim the lead and eventually win the first set.

In the second, however, the Crusaders won 25-18 and followed that with a 25-17 victory in the third.

The fourth and ultimately final set was also a thriller, but Eastside Catholic prevailed with a 25-23 win.

“We played a hard-fought match last night but couldn’t get the win,” noted Spartan Coach Holly Rohrbacher.

The Spartans were led by Sydney Maria’s nine kills and four blocks. Sophomore Morgan Dierickx saw her first varsity time for Bainbridge in the Metro League matchup, playing defense in the absence of Olivia Marshall (who was sick).
