Island coach wins gold ball at tourney

Bainbridge High and Bainbridge Athletic Club tennis coach Jennifer A. Shorr recently traveled to Rancho Mirage California for the ASICS World tennis classic, the largest adult/senior tennis tournament in the world, to compete in the national mixed doubles hard-court championships.

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Bainbridge High and Bainbridge Athletic Club tennis coach Jennifer A. Shorr recently traveled to Rancho Mirage California for the ASICS World tennis classic, the largest adult/senior tennis tournament in the world, to compete in the national mixed doubles hard-court championships.

She and her partner Kurt Chan, a California native, took home a gold ball. Taking on the top seeds who are ranked number two in the world, Shorr and Chan closed it out 6-4, 6-2, taking home the title.
