BIDC divers earn medals in Oregon

Seven divers from the Bainbridge Island Dive Club competed at the 2015 Northwest Holiday Classic in Beaverton, Oregon and brought back a busload of medals.

BEAVERTON, Oregon – Seven divers from the Bainbridge Island Dive Club competed at the 2015 Northwest Holiday Classic in Beaverton, Oregon and brought back a busload of medals.

The Northwest Holiday Classic, held Dec. 5-6 and hosted by the Tualatin Hills Dive Club, was the first dive meet for three new divers: Brian Taylor, Morgan Dunscombe and Mia Alpaugh.

Lead by coach Chris Miller and four experienced divers — Carter Wolff, Brit Hepworth, Henry Sauerman and

Bryn Tiernan — the Bainbridge Island Dive Club repeatedly made their way to the podium to accept their medals.

In the 16- to 18-year-old JO 3-meter event, Brit Hepworth dove her way to a third-place finish.

In the 11-and-under JO 1-meter event, Bryn Tiernan won the event and Mia Alpaugh came in eighth.

In the Future Champions Level 6 event on the 3-meter board, Alpaugh won the event.

In the FC Level 3 event on the 3-meter board, Morgan Dunscombe came in fifth place. In the FC Level 6, 1-meter event, she came in second.

In the JO 3-meter event, Bryn Tiernan won second place.

On the boys’ side, in the 12- to 13-year-age group, in the JO 1-meter event, Brian Taylor came in third place and Henry Sauerman placed fourth.

In the JO 3-meter event, Sauerman was second and Taylor came in third.

Sauerman also won the 12– to 13-year-ld boys JO platform event.

In the FC Level 3, 3-meter event Carter Wolff came in third place.

Wolff also dove his way to second place in the FC Level 6, 1-meter event.

In February, the Bainbridge Island Dive Club heads to Victoria, B.C. to compete in their next meet.
