BAINBRIDGE – Seven Spartans qualified for the state 3A boys swim meet — and two Bainbridge High relay teams also punched their ticket to the state championships — as BHS bested the Bulldogs 103-61 late last week at the Bainbridge Island Aquatic Center.
Bainbridge now has one or more swimmers qualified for the state meet in all the individual swim events.
The Spartans won nine of 12 events. Garfield placed first in the last three races; the 100-yard backstroke, 100-yard breaststroke and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Bainbridge dominated in the 200-yard freestyle, however, and took first, second and third places.
Jude Wenker was first in 1:44.19, followed by fellow Spartans Parker Bushey (1:51.86) and Tristan Mass (1:57.05).
Wenker had a state-qualifying time in the 200 free, and also qualified for state in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Ingalls qualified in the 50-yard freestyle, the 100-yard butterfly and the 100-yard breaststroke.
His time in the 100 fly — 51.29 — also set a new pool record.
Waite had a state time in the 500-yard freestyle, while Houseman will also be headed to Federal Way next year with a qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke.
He also qualified for state in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay.
