SEATTLE – Ballard escaped with a 4-2 win over Bainbridge in the second round of the Metro League fastpitch tournament Tuesday at Southwest Athletic Complex.

The loss dropped the Spartans out of contention for the Metro League title. Still, Bainbridge will advance to district play, anyway, as the Spartans are now scheduled to play Eastside Catholic on Friday to determine the third and fourth seeds to next week’s district tournament.

Ballard pulled in front in the fifth after four scoreless innings and claimed a 2-0 lead.

Bainbridge failed to plate any runs and the Beavers picked up two more runs in the sixth for the 4-0 advantage.

The Spartans tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth but would score no more as Ballard held BHS scoreless in the seventh.

Emma Lindsay and Riley Gregoire were both 1-for-3 at the plate and each scored a run in the game.
