Bainbridge diver qualifies for Zones

Henry Sauermann of the Bainbridge Island Dive Club placed in the top 10 in two events at the recent 2014 USA Diving Summer Junior Region 10 Championships.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Henry Sauermann of the Bainbridge Island Dive Club placed in the top 10 in two events at the recent 2014 USA Diving Summer Junior Region 10 Championships.

Three members of Bainbridge Island Dive Club traveled to the diving championships, held June 13-15 in Santa Clara, California. The meet is the first step towards qualifying for the National Championships.

The top 12 finishers qualify for Zone Championships, and the top finishers from Zones qualify for nationals.

Thanks to his strong performances in Santa Clara, Sauermann of Bainbridge Island qualified for Zones on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Past zones and national qualifier, Cammy Rouser of Kingston, and Jackie Hellmers of Poulsbo, also dove well and performed personal best reverse dives.

The Zone Championships will be held July 10-13 in Tucson, Arizona.
