Bainbridge boys go up 147-119 in Crusaders links battle

The Spartans had a sterling season start last Friday, claiming a 147-119 win against Eastside Catholic in the boys first golf match of the season.

SEATTLE – The Spartans had a sterling season start last Friday, claiming a 147-119 win against Eastside Catholic in the boys first golf match of the season.

The Bainbridge High boys varsity golf team “looked very good for our first match,” said Head Coach Joseph Lanza.

“But I feel our best golf is still to come,” he added.

Sam Warkentin led the team with 28 points and was also the top-scoring player of the match, finishing with a score of 36 at the par-37 course.

Colin Campbell nipped his heels and brought him 27.

Nate Boegl chipped in 24 points, both Brooks Wallace and Thomas Crowley managed 23 and Tad Grindeland finished with 22.

The boys hit the road again to play O’Dea Tuesday, Sept. 22, before returning for their first home match of the year Thursday, Sept. 24 against Bishop Blanchet.
