Please help Project Backpack | IN OUR OPINION

Sorry, kids. The start of school is just around the corner. But that also means Project Backpack — the annual back-to-school program that helps dozens and dozens of children get ready for class with backpacks and supplies — is underway and needs your help.

Sorry, kids. The start of school is just around the corner.

But that also means Project Backpack — the annual back-to-school program that helps dozens and dozens of children get ready for class with backpacks and supplies — is underway and needs your help.

The crucial program helped more than 180 students last year, and organizers expect the need will be even greater this year.

Not only does Project Backpack provide essential school supplies, it also helps families with education-related expenses and money for a few new items of clothing for school.

School supplies will be collected through Monday, Aug. 26 at Helpline House and Paper Products.

School supplies that are needed most include backpacks, small and large; 1 1/2 inch, three-ring binders; filler paper for notebooks; report covers; pencil boxes and pouches; Sharpies (black and red); colored pencils and markers; glue sticks, rulers; scissors and tissues/wet wipes.

Cash donations are also very welcome.
