A former Bainbridge Island man who was arrested in July on allegations of theft, trafficking stolen property and identity theft is now facing an additional charge from the Kitsap County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Vincent Duane Reyes, 37, was arrested by the Bremerton Police Department on July 24 for theft, and he has since been charged by the prosecutor’s office for identity theft and trafficking in stolen property. A Bremerton detective later discovered that Reyes, a registered sex offender, was no longer living on Bainbridge Island at the place he had registered as his home with the county sheriff’s office in February.

Authorities said Reyes did not notify police that he had moved from Bainbridge Island in June to Mason County to live with his girlfriend. Reyes, who was convicted in February 2006 in Jacksonville, Fla. of unlawful intercourse with a minor, must register as a sex offender in Washington state for a minimum of 15 years, and is required to contact the sheriff’s office within three days of any move.

Reyes was charged on Aug. 5 with one count of failing to register as a sex offender, a felony that carries a maximum five-year prison sentence and $10,000 fine.

Reyes is being held in the Kitsap County Jail, and bail has been set at $20,000 for the charge of trafficking in stolen property and $10,000 for failure to register as a sex offender.
