James Fredric Chapel

January 9, 1935 - July 4, 2023

James Fredric Chapel peacefully passed away on July 4, 2023, in his home in San Clemente, CA, in the presence of loved ones, following several months of illnesses related to his heart, lungs, and kidneys. Toward the end of his years, he often stressed that he felt he’d lived a blessed life. He had longevity (88+ years), two meaningful careers (first as a YMCA director and executive in AZ, CA, and OR, then a human resources executive as founder and owner of Chapel-Stowell, an Executive Outplacement Consulting firm in OR and WA., which he sold to a larger national human resources management company before retiring in 2000.)He felt especially blessed with a family that included 2 wonderful sons, 7 wonderful grandchildren, and more recently, the addition of 10 wonderful great grandchildren. His life was filled with innumerable adventures, opportunities to travel, opportunities to serve his communities through volunteer activities, and the chance to meet and develop relationships with phenomenal people including colleagues and friends in many different places. He also had the chance to love and raise 8 different Weimaraners who were more like children than pets. Jim is survived by his brother Dick (San Diego), his wife of 49 years, Faith, sons Teryl (Ajat, France) and Jim Jr (Laguna Beach) and 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren in CA, UT, and NY. A memorial service will be held in Newport Beach, CA toward the end of September.
