Barbara and Grant Winther have chronicled their travels since 1991 when they were part of a team that produced the guide “Country Inns and Back Roads.”

In 2001, shortly after the publication of “They Like Noble Causes,” the book Barbara wrote about how Bainbridge Islanders built their library, the couple began their on-going collaboration of travel articles for The Library News.

Barbara Winther writes the stories about where they go and what they do; Grant Winther takes the photographs to illustrate them.

Among Barbara Winther’s publications are plays based on the folklore of various cultures and fictional books set in foreign countries (www.barbarawinther.com). Her husband’s photographs have been printed in articles and shown in three Northwest galleries.

This is the fifth Winther travelogue sponsored by The Traveler.
