Strange campaign signs sprout up on Bainbridge

The most bizarre signs of this year’s election season began popping up on Bainbridge Island over the weekend.

The signs have a distinctive low-budget appearance, and display hard-to-read photocopied front pages of the National Enquirer taped onto chopped-up campaign signs from earlier elections.

The front pages of the National Enquirer are from late October, and feature a headline blaring “BLOCKBUSTER 9-PAGE INVESTIGATION” below a photograph of Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president.

The edition of the supermarket tabloid, which is usually devoted to anonymously sourced “news” of celebrities and Hollywood figures, was published at the time of the third presidential debate. The main headline: “HILLARY HITMAN TELLS ALL.”

The strange signs have apparently been put up by a supporter of Republican candidate Donald Trump; The National Enquirer has endorsed Trump for president.

The signs have been raised in landscaped medians on Madison Avenue and near High School Road.
