A quilt by Bainbridge-based fabric artist Donna Lee Dowdney will be featured in a North Olympic Library collective exhibition honoring the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service at the Port Angeles Main Library (2210 South Peabody St.) through October.

The quilt, “Deb’s Mountain,” celebrates Dowdney’s daughter, Deb Chawla, who summited Mount Rainier.

“Nature’s beauty inspires my art,” Dowdney said. “‘Deb’s Mountain’ features a view of Mount Rainier from Puget Sound’s waterways. Techniques to create this quilt include free motion embroidery, automated stitching, appliqué, needle lace, collage and complex cording.”

Dowdney’s work will also be on display at the Bainbridge Island Studio Tour from Aug. 12-14. Currently, some of her pieces are on display at the Poulsbo Chamber of Commerce.
