BPAA presents ‘Centaurs & Beyond’

The planetarium show “Centaurs & Beyond” comes to the Edwin E. Ritchie Observatory at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12.

Centaurs are objects in the outer solar system that are asteroids and comets. Joint astronomer Steve Ruhl as he looks at these objects and others from the outer edge of our solar system.

There will also be a kids program during the Summerfest at Battle Point Park, from noon to 4 p.m. with Dr. Erica.

If the sky is clear, astronomers will be on hand with telescopes for public star or sun gazing afterward.

The show is free to members of the Battle Point Astronomical Association; a $2 donation is suggested for nonmembers, $5 for families.

The BPAA is a nonprofit amateur astronomy organization that operates the Ritchie Observatory and John H. Rudolph Planetarium in the Helix House at Battle Point Park.
