Bainbridge School Foundation holds annual Clickathon

Bainbridge Schools Foundation’s fall fundraiser continues through Monday, Oct. 31.

Bainbridge Schools Foundation’s fall fundraiser continues through Monday, Oct. 31. Island residents are encouraged to log on to the BSF website, www.bainbridgeschoolsfoundation.org, to make a pledge.

The foundation has set a goal of raising $150,000 through Clickathon, and nearly $1 million over the course of the 2016-17 school year.

“Our state does not fully fund K-12 education and we are counting on the community to help us fill the gap and continue the tradition of supporting our schools,” said Mairead Shutt, the foundation’s executive director. “We are talking about core programs and important people.”

Funds raised during Clickathon will pay for the Teacher Support Initiative (to help recruit and retain great teachers), professional development for teachers, academic support for all students, and innovative programs like the Design and Engineering program, which impacts all elementary students.

Dr. Elizabeth Bell and Dr. Nicholas Thompson at Bainbridge Dental have created a $20,000 matching fund to encourage island families to donate. Bainbridge Dental will double every gift made during the Clickathon campaign, up to $20,000.

“We hope every family in the district will give what they can,” Shutt said. “The size of the gift does not matter; what is important is that we come together as a community to support our schools.”
