Bainbridge Police reported the following incidents:

Nov. 18

2:35 p.m. A resident reported that her car, a 2008 Mercedes-Benz sport utility vehicle, had been keyed in the Safeway parking lot in August. She showed the police three small scratches, approximately four inches long, on the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Police have no suspects.

4:45 p.m. Officers located and arrested a suspect in a previous domestic violence case. Officers approached the home where they believed the suspect was staying. The officers talked with the owner of the home who called for the suspect.

When the suspect came outside to meet police, she walked to the garage where her car was parked. There, she picked up a tall glass filled with liquid, which smelled like alcohol. An officer told her to put the glass down, and she refused. When she eventually put the glass down, the officer approached, and arrested her. She struggled and called the police “white, racist cops.” She started kicking the backside windows of the car and freed one of her hands from the handcuffs. At that point, another officer arrived with a set of flex cuffs to restrain her.

Nov. 19

2:47 p.m. A citizen called 911 after she lost her wallet at Safeway on Nov. 15.

She said she was using the self-checkout stand when she set her wallet down briefly. She gathered her items and left the store without her wallet.

She called Safeway, but was told no one had turned the wallet in. She said it contained numerous credit cards and personal information. She immediately cancelled the cards and notified her bank upon discovering her wallet was missing. To this point, there has been no unauthorized activity on her account. All leads have been exhausted.

Nov. 20

9:05 p.m. A woman was cited for driving with a suspended license after an officer pulled her over for driving with expired plates. When the officer stopped the vehicle after seeing expired registration on the rear license plate, the driver was notified of the expired plates.

The driver was aware that her plates had expired. When the officer checked her driver’s license, he learned that it had been suspended on Aug. 3 for unpaid parking tickets. The officer issued citations to the driver for expired plates and driving with a suspended license.

Nov. 21

1:30 a.m. An island resident called police and reported a young man had knocked on the door of her home at 1 a.m. When officers responded, they found a young male who they suspected was driving drunk. The man said he was lost and backed his car into a ditch.

The officers smelled a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. They asked him if he had been drinking. The man said he had two 24-ounce Busch beers earlier.

The officers asked him if he was willing to take several field sobriety tests. The man fared poorly on the tests and was asked to take a breathalyzer test. The man blew a .137 and was cited for driving under the influence. He was issued a court date of Nov. 23.

3:21 p.m. The owner of a vacant home reported “suspicious circumstances” at the residence.

He said the home has a “for sale” sign on it and a basic alarm system that dials his cell phone when activated. He told police he checked the phone and had missed a call from the alarm system from 2:55 a.m.

When he went to the home to investigate, he found “strange” tire tracks. He said no one had entered the home and all the doors were still locked.

The man simply wanted to make police aware of the suspicious circumstances because he has been burglarized in the past.
