The city of Bainbridge Island is looking to fill seats on its Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.

The volunteer group is responsible for recommending awards from the city’s Civic Improvement Fund, a reserve that has grown out of a state tax on overnight stays at lodging businesses.

In the past, funds have been awarded to support projects that promote tourism on Bainbridge. More than $100,000 was awarded to local projects in recent award cycles.

Volunteers on the committee review funding proposals and recommend award allocations.

Under city code, two volunteers must represent businesses or agencies that are authorized to receive lodging tax funding. Two other volunteers must represent Bainbridge businesses that collect lodging taxes.
