10:28 a.m. Two men were involved in a loud verbal dispute in the Safeway parking lot.

A 69-year-old man was parked in a handicapped spot. He had an appropriate placard. A 61-year-old man was parked in the spot next to it, over the line, with the left front wheel of his car inside the other man’s space.

As the younger man came out of the store, he said the other man began yelling at him for parking illegally. The older driver said that when he had come out of the store there had not been enough room to get into or out of the passenger side of his car. He moved his car further to the left and was going about his business, when the other driver came outside.

The older man then aired his concerns about the other man’s parking, reportedly yelling and cursing at him. He then opened the passenger side door to load his items, thus blocking the younger man from entering the driver’s side of his own car. That man then pushed the open passenger door out of the way and it struck the older man’s arm above the wrist, causing the skin to peel off.

When asked by the police how the situation could be resolved, the older man said he wanted the other driver cited for improper parking, but police advised that was not appropriate, as the incident now was potentially an assault.

12:09 p.m. A 23-year-old woman was involved in a scooter accident when she was driving her Piaggio Fly 50 down a slight grade at approximately two miles per hour and ran over a hose on a private driveway.

The hose was being used to do some watering at a nearby house. She lost her balance and fell over onto her left knee and was treated by an aid crew.
