1st Kingston Pirate Festival to be held in June

Kingston will have its first Pirate Festival June 17 downtown at Mike Wallace Park from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

About 100 years ago, Canadian pirates called the “Rum Runners” made Kingston a stop during Prohibition deliveries, making Kingston an ideal location for the event, a news release reads. Kingston High School’s mascot is also the Buccanneers.

The event will include the Seattle Knights (aka Pacific Northwest Pirates), tarot card reader, face paintings, 30-plus vendors, bouncy house and live music.

The festival is being put on by some local business owners — Stacey Patrick, Lucky Star Consignment Clothing and Clever Gift Shop; Frida Haas, Painted Zebra face paintings and Frida Haas Art; Cathy Johnson, Dreambird Candles; Megan Foley, PNW Seaglass Jewelry and Gifts; Kristina Sowers, Flora’s Flavors; and Micki Monroe, D’Vine Wine.

For sponsorship contact Sowers at KingstonPirateFestival.com or stop by Lucky Star. If interested in being a vendor, sign up at KingstonPirateFestival.com or email florasfavors@gmail.com.
