9 BI gymnasts compete at state; 7 advance

Nine Bainbridge Island Gymnastics Club boys recently competed at state at Everett Community College.

Quinn Scheer was first in the all-around with a score of 53. He had a 9.3 on the rings and a 9.1 on the floor, both earning him gold medals for placing first.

Theo Cheung was fourth in the all-around, placing first in the vault. Henry Hoecker finished eighth in the all-around with his best showing a fifth place in the high bar with a 7.1.

In a younger age group, Cruise Catton was fifth in the all-around, tying for second in the rings with a 10.3. Henry Coleman was 23rd in the all-around. He was fifth in the rings with a 9.6.

In an older age group, Isaac Werner was fifth in the all-around, but he was first in the vault with an 11.5. Will Lewis was 11th, but he was third in the floor with an 11.4.

Meanwhile, Liam Ruddick tied for eighth in the all-around in his age group. His best event was the parallel bars, finishing fifth with a 9.4. Lafe Weighall was 13th in the all-around with an 8.6 in the vault, placing seventh.

Seven of the boys qualified for regionals in Wasilla, AK.
