Ranger and the Re-Arrangers, with special guest Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews, will perform a free swing music and Gypsy jazz concert at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art.

Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” first met Eric Vanderbilt-Mathews at a Gypsy jazz festival in 2011, where his clarinet playing at the after-hours jams drew attention from top international players. The Whidbey Island native has earned several national awards, including Outstanding Soloist at the Lionel Hampton festival, and he just completed a degree in Jazz Saxophone Performance at the University of Washington.

The set list will include American swing standards, traditional Gypsy melodies, and the music of Django Reinhardt. Vanderbilt-Mathews will play both clarinet and saxophone, joining the band’s regular lineup on violin, mandolin and guitar.
