Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival is now accepting entries

Submissions are now being accepted for the 19th annual Celluloid Bainbridge Film Festival, presented by Arts & Humanities Bainbridge.

Submissions from both island and regional filmmakers will be considered.

Celluloid Bainbridge, to be held Nov. 4-5 at the Lynwood Theatre, will showcase a broad mix of selections from Bainbridge and around the Pacific Northwest, officials said.

Films will be selected through a juried review by local film professionals and enthusiasts, with submissions accepted online at www.filmfreeway.com/festival/Celluloid.

The expansion of eligible talent is a major shift from the historic requirements of the festival, and one only recently begun.

For 17 years, Celluloid Bainbridge showed only films made on Bainbridge Island, or by island filmmakers. Then, in 2016, the festival expanded its reach to the rest of the Pacific Northwest, welcoming submissions from all of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska and British Columbia.

This year’s festival will once again be open to submissions from across the region in hopes of finding the very best of what our unique corner of the world has to offer, officials said.

Film categories include: Narrative, Documentary, Web Series, Student Film and Music Video. Each category will receive a “Best of” award, as well as other juried honors.

An early bird period, with discounted submission fees, runs through the end of July. The regular submission deadline is Aug. 31, and late entries will be accepted, with increased submission fees, throughout the month of September.

A complete festival schedule, including opening night gala events, will be announced this fall, once selections are made and the film lineup finalized.
