See Bainbridge Suzuki at Benaroya

Shinichi Suzuki developed a musical education methodology based on the philosophy of unlimited musical potential of every child. So it’s grand to see a group of Bainbridge piano students stretch their hands across the water for a large-scale concert celebration.

Courtesy of the Suzuki Piano Parents Association of Bainbridge, island students will perform in a Suzuki piano concert from 2-4 p.m. March 14 at the Nordstrom Recital Hall of Benaroya Hall, joining students from Seattle, Tacoma, Lynwood and Ellensburg. Four Bainbridge seniors – Donna Horning, Karis Hanson, Laetitia Lehman-Pearsall and Emily Safford – will participate.

‘Fuel’ flows again at the Lynwood

As a young adult, Josh Tickell spent years touring the country in his biodiesel-fueled Veggie Van, educating those he met about the benefits of alternative fuels, and educating himself about the vast complexities of the world’s oil-greased political, economic and social machines.

His resulting book, “Biodiesel America,” led to the irresistible, improbably hopeful documentary “Fuel.”

It took home the 2008 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for best documentary and had a one-time island showing as part of the ongoing Matinees that Matter series, a joint effort by Sustainable Bainbridge and the Lynwood Theatre.

Now, it’ll enjoy a longer run at the Lynwood, with shows at 5 p.m. tonight through Thursday. Tickell will be in attendance at the Friday and Saturday shows. See www.lynwoodtheatre.com, and www.thefuelfilm.com.
