The rebuilding of Winslow Wharf Marina in downtown’s Eagle Harbor came to a successful and early end recently.

A year-long rebuilding project of Winslow Wharf Marina was completed earlier this month.

Marina slip owners and tenants were joined at Doc’s Marina Grill by construction workers from Marine Floats of Tacoma, electricians from DF Electric Incorporated and pile drivers from Carlson Construction who worked together to complete the new marina ahead of schedule and under budget.

Representatives from the local offices of Wells Fargo Bank were also welcomed at the celebration because of their funding of the project.

The 240-slip marina in Bainbridge Island’s Eagle Harbor had not been upgraded since construction of its initial sections in 1976, and the $5.9 million effort replaced crumbling concrete walks, rotting wooden supports and deteriorating creosote pilings with state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly steel pilings and partially open-grate composite docks.

The rebuilt marina is reportedly at least four times sturdier than the old one it replaced.
