Selected reports from the Bainbridge Island Police Department blotter:
Sunday, Feb. 22
10:30 a.m. A 54-year-old Seattle man was riding west on Hidden Cove Road during the Chilly Hilly when a cyclist hit a pothole then fell down in front of the Seattle biker.
The Seattle man said he then ran over the other cyclist, a 43-year-old man from Olympia, with his bike and then went into the ditch.
Both cyclists had road rash and complained of back and side pains. The pair were transported by medics.
12:02 p.m. Bainbridge police found a woman had parked her car in the roadway near a hazardous curve on Fletcher Bay Road near Berganio Lane during the Chilly Hilly.
Police found the driver in the vehicle, which had its emergency flashing lights on. The woman told police she had hit a pothole and it flattened two of her tires. Police examined the pothole and found tire marks from the woman’s vehicle through it. The driver said she had moved over in the lane to allow a police car to pass when she hit the pothole.
The woman called AAA for assistance and police suggested that she file a claim with the city for replacement of her tires.
7:24 p.m. Police responded to the ferry terminal after a 46-year-old Bainbridge man reported a confrontation with another driver.
The man said a driver in a white GMC pickup truck with Texas plates cut into the ferry line at the Harborview Drive signal.
The Bainbridge man got a “report something” card from the ticket booth and walked up to the truck driver and placed the card on his windshield. The truck driver then said he carried a concealed weapon. The Bainbridge man stepped back to call police, and as the truck drove away, the driver made a gun with his hand and pointed it at the Bainbridge man.
The man said he did not feel threatened but felt the man was behaving irresponsibly, and noted the driver had his family with him.
