BAINBRIDGE – The city of Bainbridge Island and the Coast Guard Auxiliary will again hold the annual Bainbridge Island Boater’s Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 20 in Waterfront Park.

The fair is an afternoon of celebration, discovery and enjoying the beautiful waters of the Puget Sound.

Boating newbies can test their sea legs with a learn to row class with the Bainbridge Island Rowing Club, or learn to crew and hoist and trim the sails with the high school sailing team.

Old salts can showcase their skills in the “Stand Up Paddleboard Joust” and the “Canoe Tug-of-War.”

The event will also feature a live helicopter rescue demonstration, a multitude of educational opportunities and the chance to explore the Bainbridge Island Police boat, Marine 8, and the Seattle fireboat, Chief Seattle.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be on deck with a safe boating booth, knot-tying lessons, vessel inspections, kids’ activities and free hot dogs.

Also on hand for the fair will be expert diver Bruce MacLay, who will provide information about buoys, floats and anchors.

City staff will be on hand to discuss the latest city dock improvements, marine water quality and exciting upcoming marine-oriented volunteer opportunities.
