Climate Voters Guide to be held at EHCC
Published 8:30 am Tuesday, October 16, 2018
Eagle Harbor Congregational Church will host the Climate Voters Guide, part of the BI Climate & Energy discussion series, at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20.
The forum is a chance for islanders to join a conversation on climate impacts and related issues on the November ballot.
Topics include Initiative 1631, which would enact a carbon emissions fee of $15 per metric ton of carbon beginning on Jan. 1, 2020, as well as the Bainbridge Island SAFE Mobility Levy.
I-1631 would use revenue from the fee to fund various programs and projects related to the environment.
The $15 million SAFE levy would raise property taxes for seven years on Bainbridge to fund non-motorized transportation projects. Demi Allen, a transportation advocate, will speak about the SAFE levy.
