Islanders earn degrees at WGU

Seven students from Bainbridge Island will join the graduating class of WGU Washington as nearly 1,700 bachelor’s and master’s degrees are awarded to students from across the state at the online university’s fourth annual commencement ceremony this weekend.

The Bainbridge graduates are:

Serena Grattan, master of science degree in curriculum and instruction;

Jason Sovick, Endorsement Preparation Program, Education Leadership;

Alexander Wisniewski, master’s degree in business administration;

Alain Huggler, bachelor of science degree in accounting;

Alaina Simcoe, bachelor of science degree in business management;

Sonia Wagner, bachelor of science degree in health informatics; and

Corinne Worth, bachelor of science degree in nursing.

Of the 1,700 graduates, 46 are from Kitsap County.

University officials also said the 2015 graduating class is the largest since the university was founded four years ago and roughly 70 percent larger than last year’s class of 1,055 graduates.
