Bainbridge Community Broadcasting is celebrating its first anniversary and new studio location with public tours and a party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday

In celebration of their first anniversary, their new studio, their 180th podcast and more than 15,000 downloads to date, Bainbridge Community Broadcasting will hold a public studio tour and party from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2.

The party will include studio tours, tasty treats from Jake’s Pickup, a chance to experience the thrill of a podcast interview and numerous elegant door prizes hand-crafted by local artisans.

“It’s our way of saying thank you to the community, and it’s an open invitation to new volunteers,” said manager Barry Peters. “This community has been incredibly supportive of our BCB start-up since last May.”

In its first 12 months, more than 70 different Bainbridge organizations have been featured in BCB podcasts.

“Bainbridge Community Broadcasting is everything you could want in a radio station,” said Wes Schulz, conductor of the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra. “A group of dedicated and talented individuals bringing you the best news and information about Bainbridge Island. The work BCB is doing is not only fantastic, but it’s great fun for listeners and on-air personalities alike.”

Peters said that the anniversary event was the perfect opportunity for volunteers to connect more with the community.

“Our anniversary celebration offers us an opportunity to give back,” said Peters. “Plus, we’re really looking forward to showing off our wonderful new studios in the Hildebrand Village. This has been a very exciting venture for our all-volunteer team of adults and high school students and we’re looking forward to another year of extraordinary growth.”

Bainbridge Community Broadcasting is an all-volunteer community service project of Sustainable Bainbridge, a nonprofit organization.

The studio is located at 325 Tormey Lane Suite 144, in Hildebrand Village next to Silver Screen Video.
