A Miller Road home was destroyed by flames and a nearby cedar tree became a nearly 80-foot-high torch during an early morning fire March 11.

Bainbridge Island firefighters found flames shooting skyward when they arrived at a house fire on Miller Road early Wednesday morning.

A photograph taken by the fire department as firefighters arrived at the scene shows the home in the 12300 block of Miller Road fully engulfed in fire, with a nearly 80-foot cedar tree next to the home lit like a massive torch.

The photograph was released by the Bainbridge Island Fire Department Wednesday afternoon, after the scene was cleared by emergency personnel.

No one was hurt in the fire, which was reported just after 4 a.m. March 11.

Assistant Chief Luke Carpenter of the Bainbridge Island Fire Department said the fire was under investigation but appeared to be accidental.

The home was a total loss.
