Youth fly fishing expo is Sunday at Battle Point Park

Do you have a young person you would like to introduce to fly fishing or have them get some practice in prior to heading out to fish this spring? Join local fishers from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3 for the Youth Fly Fishing Expo at Battle Point Park.

Do you have a young person you would like to introduce to fly fishing or have them get some practice in prior to heading out to fish this spring? Join local fishers from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 3 for the Youth Fly Fishing Expo at Battle Point Park.

There will be fly tying and fly casting clinics, casting for accuracy games with prizes, fishing in the pond as well as local and national speakers from Trout Unlimited.

Rods, reels, safety glasses and flies are available to freely borrow on a limited basis. The cost is $9 for youth age 18 and under. Parents are free to attend and welcome to help instruct their kids. The event is sponsored by the Bainbridge Island Park & Recreation District, Trout Unlimited, Bainbridge Island Fly Fishers, Sage, Redington, Rio and Peninsula Outfitters.
