The girls 4×400 relay team keeps on collecting titles.
The team of Kelly Crane, Courtney Odell, Maddy Sheldon and Sylvia Stellmacher took first in the event at the South Kitsap Invitational Saturday at South Kitsap High School.
The foursome posted a time of 4:12.45.
Also on the girls side, Annie Taylor was third in the 1600 with a time of 5:53.12.
Emily Farrar was second in the 3200 with a time of 11:28.78.
The 4×100 relay team took third with a time of 52.77.
Anna Kaminski was third in the shot put with a mark of 33 feet, 10.5 inches while Theresa Johansen was eighth with a mark of 29 feet, 9.25 inches.
Kaminiski also took second in the discus while Johansen was fourth.
On the boys’ side, Austin Hallett was second in the 800 with a time of 2:01.30.
The 4×100 relay team of Kiyle Playter, Stephen Vassiliadis, Anthony Carter and Kyle Szarzynski took fourth with a time of 45.51 while the 4×400 relay team of Vassiliadis, Carter, Hallett and Ian Shiach were second with a time of 3:33.63.
The distance medley relay team of Shiach, Griffin Dunn, Matt Tetlow and Ryan Vogel took second with a time of 11:01.32.
Cheyne Clark took second in the pole vault with a mark of 13 feet, six inches.
Bainbridge hosts their last home meet of the season Thursday against O’Dea, Holy Names and West Seattle.
Their last regular season meet is May 1 against O’Dea, Holy Names, Bishop Blanchet and Nathan Hale at the Northeast Athletic Complex in Seattle.
Select soccer takes next step
This past weekend, the Bainbridge Girls U17 Premier soccer team achieved promotion from Premier Level 3 (P3) to Premier Level 2 (P2) of the Washington State Premier Leagues.
They are now among the top 16 teams in the state for league play, and are ranked 12th in the state based on their two tournament wins during the summer of 2007.
They are the second Bainbridge girls premier soccer team ever to achieve such high status, and have had to overcome many obstacles in their path to this honor.
The team began working toward its P3 season in late 2007, and played its league games from February through early April. Because there are no Bainbridge soccer fields open in the winter, the team had to practice off the island for three months, and had no home games in their first seven league matches.
They did well despite these hardships, but needed to beat the undefeated first place Skagit Storm in their ninth game in order to gain second place in P3.
Although they were missing players on spring break, and in fact were a player short (10 versus 11), BFC 90 beat Skagit 3-1. They finished second in P3 and qualified for a playoff for promotion to P2.
In the three-game playoff Sunday, BFC 90 had a 4-0 win and a 0-1 loss in the first two games, and needed at least a tie with P2 Velocity in the final game.
They went down 0-1 early in the game, but dominated the second half and ended with a 1-1 tie that got them promoted to P2.
They are now one of 10 teams in Washington remaining in the State Championship Cup, and they continue their quest for the state championship against P1 Dosveedanya this Saturday.
BFC 90 was formed just two years ago, and half of the girls are playing a year above their true age group, which is unheard of for such a highly ranked team.
The forwards are Alex Mynatt, Kelsey Thompson, and Nina Johnson. The midfielders include Hallie Swan, Bryn Kepler, Haylee Baker, Mariko Wolf, Hannah Trageser, Brooke Erickson, and Patricia Borges.
The defenders are Lauren Tyner, Rebekah Kitchen, Anneliese Gross, Melissa Hoshizaki, Shea Kenyon, Mallory Farrar, and Anastasia Tschida. The goal keeper is Devon Denis. The team is coached by Phil Avison and Peter Kepler.

Lacrossers win another one
The Bainbridge lacrosse teams came away with another victory Friday night.
The girls blew out North Kitsap 22-1 on the road while the boys defeated Eastlake 15-3.
For the girls, Jaclyn Biggers led the way with eight points off of six goals and two assists.
No stats were reported for the boys’ game.
The girls host Lake Sammamish Wednesday at 6:15 p.m.
The boys traveled to Lakeside yesterday.
They take on undefeated Issaquah Friday at 7:30 p.m.
