Select soccer hits top ten

The Bainbridge FC GU17 team had an impressive run at the Diadora Cup July 5-8 at the 60 Acres Soccer Complex in Redmond.

The team won their bracket and made the Sunday final after winning two games – a 2-0 victory over Dosveedanya and a 4-0 thrashing of Emerald City – and battling Crossfire to a 1-1 tie in their three bracket games.

The team has now made the final in each of their last four tournaments spanning almost 12 months, sporting a record that now gives them a ranking within the top 10 in the state.

Additionally, the exposure of the tournament gave rise to a college recruitment approach for team members Hannah Tresegar and Devon Denis.

Other members were Anastasia Tschida, Shea Kenyon, Lauren Tyner, Mallory Farrar, Mariko Wolf, Bryn Kepler, Brooke Erickson, Nina Johnson, Maddie Ginder, Haylee Baker and Anneliese Gross.

Coaches Peter Kepler and Phil Avison said while they were disappointed to lose the championship game to the Whatcom Rangers, they are excited by the progress of the team and the potential for continued Premier level success.

The team will play in two more tournaments in August.
