Spartans take first Metro win in varsity fastpitch

SEATTLE - Bainbridge picked up its first win of the girls varsity fastpitch season with a well-deserved win over Chief Sealth at Southwest Athletic Complex on March 30.

SEATTLE – Bainbridge picked up its first win of the girls varsity fastpitch season with a well-deserved win over Chief Sealth at Southwest Athletic Complex on March 30.

The Spartans sprung to a 2-0 first-inning lead, then answered a one-run Chief Sealth second inning with a two-run third to put Bainbridge up, 4-1.

Bainbridge closed out the scoring with four more runs in the fifth inning.

Megan Spray went 1-for-2 with a triple bagger and a sacrifice fly that netted three RBIs for the Spartans in their first Metro win.

Maddie Loverich went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Bainbridge, while teammate Natalya Niehaus dazzled on 2-for-4 batting, with a triple, RBI and three runs.

Her sister Spartan Emma Lindsay added two RBIs for Bainbridge.

Deahna King picked up her first win on the mound for BHS. She pitched seven innings and had 14 strikeouts.

The victory improved Bainbridge to 1-2 (1-0 Metro League).
