Spartans slay Blanchet 7-4 in varsity tennis

BAINBRIDGE - Bainbridge High School varsity coed tennis team won their season home court opener against Bishop Blanchet Tuesday afternoon 7-4.

BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge High School varsity coed tennis team won their season home court opener against Bishop Blanchet Tuesday afternoon 7-4.

Raya Deussen and Maddy Brito claimed a win in the No. 1 girls doubles, 5-7, 4-4.

The No. 2 girls doubles went to BHS by default.

BHS again emerged victorious from the No. 1 boys doubles match, in which Jeromy Lipschutz and Alec Chan won 6-2, 6-3.

Likewise in the No. 2 boys doubles event, where Spartan teammates Mason Ogden and Aiden Sullivan won 6-2, 6-4.

The Spartan duo of Tommy Zech and Quinn Dassel fought their way to a 6-2, 6-2 win in the mixed doubles match as well.

It was only in the singles events that Blanchet managed to snake away a few matches from the Spartans.

Sammi Jiang claimed the No. 1 girls singles match for BHS (6-2, 6-2), but Ellie Van Slyke was defeated 6-2, 7-5 in No. 2 girls singles. Tara Nikomborirak brought things back home for Bainbridge in the No. 3 matchup, however, winning 6-4, 6-1 in Girls Singles No. 3.

Blanchet claimed wins in all three of the boys singles matches over Ben Devries (6-4, 4-6, 2-6), Holt Ogden (6-1, 6-2) and Kevin Nikomborirak (6-3, 3-6, 1-6).
